Alexia

The journey of our life is about embracing changes

I am Alexia Nissiforou, an art therapist, originally from Cyprus. I have used different art mediums throughout my life, (painting, drawing, photography, dance and drama) as a form of expression.

I recognised its significance, as I found my own way to express whatever I was feeling. I relocated to Ireland, where I obtained an MA in Art Therapy from MTU Crawford University.

" I became an art therapist to remind people of their own strength and to offer
them a safe space to find their way back to themselves.
Let’s explore patterns
and take this journey together.".

Why I Became
an Art Therapist

My path to becoming an art therapist wasn't a straight line. I had to spend many years understanding all forms of art and was shaped by my own experiences with struggle and the profound impact of having someone truly listen without judgment.

I used art from a very young age. Later, I became interested in psychology when I took a module at school. Then my path took a different direction, and become a graphic designer. However, the love and connection of the two themes always found a way in me. It took some years to discover Art Therapy, but I got there in the end.

As an Art Therapist, I use creativity and curiosity

through experimental methods to support children, adolescents, and adults in finding their way of expressing themselves. Accepting that there are many ways to express whatever is felt (and it may be difficult to find words for), art therapy offers a safe way to become aware of what arises from the unconscious.

My Therapeutic
Approach

This is the space to outline your areas of expertise and the specific services you offer to clients. Highlight your core competencies and the depth of knowledge you bring to each practice area.

Art Therapy

We'll explore the connection between your image making with your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and develop practical strategies to shift unhelpful patterns.

Trauma-Informed Care

Trauma lives in the body and the nervous system, as well as the mind. Our work will honour your pace and prioritise your sense of safety above all else.

We'll let the images do the talking.

Mindfulness-Based Techniques

I'll introduce grounding and mindfulness practices to help you stay present, manage overwhelming emotions, and reconnect with your body. Breathing is essential for regulating.

Person Center
Approach

Your story matters. You lead the way, and i will support your process. We'll examine the narratives you've been told (and told yourself) and work together to rewrite the ones that no longer serve you.

ArTA Assesment Tool

ArTA is an evidence-based assessment to gain an understanding of how someone deals with challenging situations, and what the potential is in increasing adaptability.
